SS Environmental Exercise Physiology [course outline] The objective of this course is to examine the responses and adaptations of the human body to exercise under different environmental conditions.
SS Applied Sport Injuries [course outline] This course is designed to provide students with hands-on skills, exposure to technology, knowledge and the understanding of applied, population-specific and epidemiological aspects of sport injuries.
SS Physical Activity and Health [course outline] The objective of this course is to examine how physical activity and inactivity influences a number of health and disease outcomes. SS Sport Nutrition [course outline] The objective of this course is to learn about the role of nutrition in supporting the physical performance, health and fitness of athletes.
SS Experimental Biomechanics [course outline] This course will introduce current experimental methods in the biomechanical analysis of human movement, including: Kinematic techniques, Kinetic techniques, and Inverse dynamics.
SS Analytical Biomechanics [course outline] This course will introduce current analytical methods in the biomechanical analysis of human movement, including: Conceptual models, Physical models, Statistical models and Simulations models.
SS Advanced Topics in Exercise and Sport Psychology [course outline] The focus of this course is on psychology of exercise and sport.
The course is designed to provide students with an understanding of how psychological variables influence participation in physical activity.
The focus is on the key motivational perspectives of exercise and sport. Advance topics such as children in sport, burnout, and psychology of injury will also be covered. SS Sport Psychology in Theory Practice and Research [course outline] The focus of this course is on theory, research and practices in sport and exercise psychology.
The students will be introduced to the role of applied sport psychologist, the development and evaluation of basic mental skill training, and theories underpinning each mental skill. This course will be both theoretical and practical based on research evidence.
In addition, the development and evaluation of basic psychological skills training programmes will be introduced. SS Sport Coaching Theory to Practice [course outline] This course builds on the work undertaken in the foundation of sport coaching and critically examines the understanding and application of sport pedagogy learning theories and instructional models to the sport environment.
In addition, best practice from successful sporting countries will also be explored to give learners an international perspective in sport coaching. SS Motor Control and Learning Theory to Practice [course outline] This course focuses on the central questions of why, when, and how movements becomes coordinated over time by way of reflecting on current theories and research.
In particular, the dynamical systems approach is adopted as the main theoretical paradigm. Topics related to complex systems, ecological psychology, degrees of freedom problem, perceptual-motor landscape, and specific practical strategies related to acquisition of skills will be covered.
SS Adapted Physical Activity and Recreation [course outline] This course will enable students to better understand disability sports and apply theoretical knowledge and understanding in coaching athletes with disabilities.
